The Client

Our client is a prominent European company specializing in sophisticated, cosmopolitan furniture designs for retail and real-estate spaces. This client aimed to add 3D renderings of their furniture pieces to their website in a way that was customizable and manipulatable. They needed a partner capable of creating over customizable 3D models of their unique furniture in multiple formats.

• Creating customizable 3D renderings of furniture pieces
• Completing ten variations of 500 items
• Creating the models in SketchUp, 3ds Max, V-Ray, and .obj formats

Project Challenges

In assisting with this project, our team encountered the following challenges -

• One of our biggest challenges was adequately representing fabric texture in the 3D models. It took a few exchanges of images, but as the client was able to share more detailed information, our team was able to rise to the challenge.
• Due to the scale of this project (500 items with ten or more versions of each), the client needed our team to demonstrate its full capability of completing high-quality work to their specifications before the project could begin.

The Solution

To create full customizable 3D models for this client, the O2I team moved through the following process -

• First drafts of sample models were produced in black and white to show the client the high level of quality and style our team is capable of creating.
• Once the client approved the designs put forth in the initial drafts, work on the project began with the coloring and texturing of eight sample products. It was important to start with a small batch to ensure renderings met the client's satisfaction before moving on to complete the rest of this massive project.
• After we worked out all details with the client and ensured the samples met the client's requirements, our team moved forward to create ten variations of all 500 pieces in each of the required output formats.
• Made any necessary adjustments to individual files as requested by the client to ensure the utmost satisfaction.

The Results

Upon the final delivery of the project files as per the agreed milestones, the client expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work and the proactive communication throughout partnering with O2I. They were happy with our attention to detail and painstaking efforts to accurately represent the precise texturing of the fabrics.
