The Client's Unique Requirements

The customer who approached us at Outsource2india is a leading designer and manufacturer of film, steel, and PVC-clad structures based out of United Kingdom. With an experience of over 30 years, the customer works with some of the major public sector clients and industry leaders, offering their clients with purpose-built structures to suit varying agricultural requirements.

The client approached us because they were finding it extremely challenging to increase the size of PVC-clad structures proportionately, which they wanted to introduce in the European market before any of their competitors. While the standard and off-the-shelf structures measured 5 or 6 meters in span, the proposed PVC structures were supposed to measure between 8 to 20 meters long. At the same time, the engineering drawings for the PVC-clad structures had to be extremely accurate and also adhere to specific sector-applicable Eurocodes.

Although the client was initially hesitant about outsourcing, as they had no prior experience in outsourcing engineering drawings, our professionalism and past experience in handling similar projects instantly put them at ease.

How We Tackled Project Specific Challenges

Some of the business requirements specified by the customer were challenging. Our drafters had to maintain the look, feel, strength and design of the structures as per the original specifications provided by the client. At the same time, the various nuances of Eurocodes had to be understood and stringently complied with, while identifying the most economical configuration of the new product.

Given that our team had extensive experience and expertise in handling drawings for several global customers, we decided on a swift, yet procedurally stable approach to handle the project requirements, which comprised following steps -

• We assigned a team of four experienced engineers, all IIT alumni, (an esteemed Engineering Institution in India), to work full-time on the project
• The design team was provided with an internal appraisal on Eurocodes
• We provided the customers with detailed 3D walkthroughs and 3D renderings by using STAAD.Pro
• The structures designed by us promised the customer of a minimum design life of 15 years
• We offered the customer with compatible CAD files that could be easily opened and edited with Inventor Simulation 2011 or AutoCAD Mechanical 2011
