The customer is a provider of a wide range of mobile phones, mobile broadband services and products to cover all communication needs.

The challenge

The challenge was to create an end-to-end secure fund transfer and payment application for resource constrained devices like mobile phones.

The project

O2I developed a mobile application that transformed the mobile handset into a user-friendly, flexible device that could be used for safe payments.

A mobile user interface was developed using J2ME and J2ME Polish. This rich mobile user interface works well with the high-end mobiles. For users with low-end mobile phones without Java, another version of the application was developed which provides menu based user interface using USSD, SMS and SIM Toolkit.

The result

The solution allows users to store their money in a virtual account that can be securely accessed using the mobile phone. Mobile payment solution allowed subscribers to perform a variety of financial transactions using their current mobile phones, such as bill payments, Internet purchases, hotel bookings etc.
